Good buy??

Is this a good buy? I'm new to overlanding and looking to get something that I can build up over the next few years. This one is a single owner (been in the family since it was purchased), and only has highway miles, no off-roading. He's willing to negotiate in price, probably down to 16k or so. What should I do?

That price has one too many zeroes. You want a 94+, preferably with lockers. Even flawless examples aren't 20k. Yet.

Keep your eye peeled on cl and be prepared to spend 7-9k and you will find plenty to choose from. Check ih8mud.com and do your homework.

Don't discount the 100 series either.

I guess they think that because it's rust free and relatively low mileage it should go for a premium. It's about double what it should be, especially for a 91. Even the anniversary edition 97's aren't going for that. If it was already heavily modified (armor, lift, lockers roof rack etc) then that price is more reasonable. Look on IH8Mud classifieds for current prices...
