gooey Eezi-Awn mess

Does anyone else with temps over 70 have a gooey mess where the velcro of the ratchet strap is? That velcro is held on with glue and mine has been dripping, getting on the ratchet and generally making a mess. Any cure for this?

Mineral spirits (aka paint thinner), Naptha, or good ol' fashioned dirt.

The other question: velcro has gotten along without that gooey stuff since the beginning of time. Why the gooey stuff now?

They were using the goo to hold the velcro in place during the sewing. I hear they are no longer using it.

The silicon used to hold the Velcro in place prior to sewing is a pain, as flyingwill said it has been phased out.

Before using the "heavy guns" to remove the silicon try Goof Off as it is relatively mid. An other product on the market it Acrysol, made by Kent ,many shops use it to clean dashboards and car interiors.

Both products will remove the goo, it may take a few application to clear it all off. Try first in a small area to make sure they don't chemically react with the cover.

Ahhhh....that makes sense now. I was wondering why it was there. I'll give Goof-Off a try in removing it all so I don't get dripped on.
