Google Earth imagery offline on smartphones or tablets?

Looking for recommendations for iPhone (or Android) apps that allow for offline caching of Google Earth satellite imagery.

The end users will be travellng in Tibet and needs to use Google high res imagery as a map since most of the roads he needs to travel are dirt tracks and do not show up on any maps.

They will be taking an assortment of devices with them including iPhones, iPads, and Nexus 10 tablets.

I'm aware of the ability to cache GE imagery offline by pre flying your intended route, but I'm distrustful of the life span or integrity of that technique on a mobile device. I need a dedicated caching solution if any ones knows of one?

Thanks,
David

I dunno about Google Earth imagery, but GaiaGPS does some Google imagery, and ESRI and MapQuest. I was able to bring up Tibet University in Lhasa so it has at least some coverage. Not sure if they have street view yet....

all of the major topo gps programs (backcountry navigator, gaia, alpine quest, etc. for Android - gaia, motionx, etc for iOS) have aerial/sat imagery options and allow downloading a predefined area while connected for later use. Orux for Android allows a 3D view, not sure on iOS which ones support 3D.

i'm not familiar with the iOS apps, but on Android i like Alpine Quest currently. Backcountry Navigator is one of the most popular on here and has perhaps a shorter learning curve.
