It happened after a hollister run on the way home.

I was driving down first street in gilroy heading to my buddy's house to drop off a rc rock crawler I borrowed for the day. We were driving in the left lane going about 30mph of a 5 lane road with the middle being a emergency lane. Then a man in a sienna minivan gunned from a shopping center on our right across traffic and I swerved to try to minimize or dodge him but hit my ********** in my passenger side slider and doors and I grinded across him and my truck popped off when he hit my rear axle and then my rear passenger tire blew out. I was now in oncoming traffic and I drove off the street into a Walgreens parking lot and once I checke to see if my wife and dog were okay I got out of tw truck and ran to the other car cause at first I thought he was fleeing. But upon further inspection he wasn't going anywhere. He car was totaled with car parts all over the 5 lane road with cars running over pieces here and there. The man was okay but shooken up. He was just in a rush when he tried to make that left hand turn and look where it got us. Several really nice people pulled over to help and check on us, they also called the cops and the officers that showed up were really nice.

We exchanged Info and I thought I would be able to drive home once I change my tire so I had at it and changed the tire on limited tools (wasn't planning on doing any tire Chanel's today) after I had the tire changed we drive the 2 blocks to my friends house and while we were going the truck was swerving like crazy, I thought it was just the alignment but when I got to my friends I realized my rear axle was bent, probably by about 10-15 degrees outward on the leading edge of the right side. So then I knew it had to be flatbed towed home. Called around and the quotes were $400-450 for a tow so we ended up with plan B. my friend let us drive his wife's 3rd gen home and he will gonna bring my runner home tomorrow with his f350 and trailer.

so far from further inspection the damages are: bent rear axle, damaged passenger doors, fiberglass fender, slider damaged, and frame slightly bent in from slider. blown tire and possible damages to hutchinson double bead lock.

i know ill need a new rear axle but i want to just put that money towards building a better axle, maybe someone can chime in about doing a full float rear because I've been thinking about the possibility of doing that or maybe a currie or ruff stuff

I can feel your pain... won't get mine back until December 10th, but I went the same route. Upgrading everything that was damaged with much better equipment. :)

Glad you are ok, these trucks seem to be targets for bad drivers... :(

First and foremost, glad you, the wife, and the dog are all OK! Definitely seems like a solid hit. Such a shame to see all that work and perfection mangled in an instant, but it can all be replaced. Hopefully the appraisal goes well and the insurance makes right of the situation, in whatever way possible. That frame twist doesn't look pretty, but I can't even imagine how much money you have into this rig! Keep us posted on the outcome. Good luck!

Ouch! Glad everyone is okay. I'm thinking it could've been worse for you if it wasn't for the sliders.

In anycase, if you need a housing I have one for the 8.4". It has the ABS mounts if you need those and is from a tundra. So, it might be a few inches wider in total length compared to yours but, not sure.

Nice! If that doesn't work out, there's a 14 bolt on pirate up for sale. I wouldn't mind going this route as long it's a full float and convert to 6 lug. Gotta worry about replacing my motor first.

I'll be surprised if the insurance co doesn't write that truck off. One way or the other it is going to get messy. Good luck.

I agree with lowenbrau. Buy it from the insurance company, and get back to work on it.

I'd be shocked if this story doesn't end with a salvage stamp on the title.

That sucks! Looks like you got lucky considering what a hard T-bone can look like normally. Sliders took the brunt? Is your frame twisted?
Ripe for a Diamond now though. And throw some gussets on those sliders when you weld them back on so your frame doesnt cave in so bad next time :)
Cant wait to see the build.

the repairs estimate came to just over $19,000!!!!

I can't believe they are repairing your vehicle.
I work with insurance everyday and it just doesn't make any sense..?

But hopefully she'll be back on the road in no time!
