Grand Island; Munising Bay Lake Superior

Big pictures with a little camera We had a short snowmobile season and zipped over to Grand Island last Friday.

About 150' above the lake:

Couple hundred feet above Trout Bay

Looking South over Munising Bay. That's the paper mill in Munising with the stack vapor

North Point Light

You can see the XC ski tracks bottom left. BIG chunks of jam / pack ice..

I think it was 40 to 45 degrees all day. Awesome early spring type weather-

Grand Island is such a fun place, although I've never visited in the winter.

Cindy and I have paddled around it (No Photos because I was too afraid to bring a camera in the kayak with me back then) and we've ridden our Mt. Bikes around it too!

Most dont believe the photos when I show them that the tropical blue water it Lake Superior

Wow- just seeing this today- what a different perspective with all that pack ice! It really is a beautiful kayaking destination. My wife and I paddled out some years ago and camped at Murray Bay- we tried circumnavigating the island, but the winds were too daunting on the west side. Cool sea caves on the north side too, if I remember correctly.
