One thing to note, Wheelers Peak is actually the second tallest peak in NV. Boundary Peak is the tallest at 13,147

Thanks for the note; edited the post. Dang! Now we'll have to bag Boundary Peak. Actually, we spent some time on the return trip googling facts about Wheeler Peak, and I was sure that I saw it was the highest in NV. Just rechecked and there's a Wheeler Peak as the highest point in NM.

Also interesting to see fellow forum member @BretEdge out and about. We hiked out to that overlook and waved.
