Hello all,
I am new to this forum and seeking some input regarding gutter mounts and their placement.
I recently acquired an 09 Chevy Express 1500. I am currently in the early stages of turning into a camper with a complete solar setup. I am wanting to diy 80/20 roof rails for the solar panel. I just got the universal SmittyBilt gutter mounts in and was somewhat surprised when I went to go install them. I was expecting the bracket back plate to rest on the most inward face of the gutter rail and not where they are currently sitting. Does this seem right? It seems as thought the current placement has some flex and the rail itself has already started to “cave” just by tightening down the brackets. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
