Ham antenna install

Have any of you guys mounted an antenna on your hood? My roof is full and I don't have tabs on my bumper. I have have my GMRS UHF antenna mounted on the hood using a trunk lip mount. It always seemed to work well.


I am thinking of doing the same with my dual band ham antenna. Both on the same side or should I put one on each side?

I don't have any of mine there, but it should work well because you will get a decent ground plane from the hood so you can run most any antenna you want like a good 5/8-wave on 2M. Same side as the other won't matter, though I doubt you'd be able to transmit on 70cm when the GMRS radio is on no matter where the antenna are.
