If you are in Calif. they can't sell here due to lack of CARB certification

Costco has a 2000W generator for something like $600. Yamaha engine, very good reviews. Got one but haven't started it up yet...

You are correct though I can't ever remember a bad day surfing:friday:

I had a honda 2000ie and it would not run my a/c so I bought a domestic generator. It's a honda engine runs like a honda I paid ,$661.00. For it. I love it link below and it's a 3000 watt it fits in my rear box .

I don't think this has a Honda engine. It looks like one of several Chinese copies of Honda's engine. These Chinese generators do seem to provide reliable "bang-for-the-buck" whether we want to admit it or not.

I've got a buddy in the Army Reserves. He bought a HF one so he could use it when they have their 2 week camping/training trip. Used it all day to run an A/C unit in their tent. He said it worked and had no problems.

Army Reserves = soft. I would have killed my Marines if they would have considered bringing a generator or air conditioning. I don't have this generator but do have the predator 6.5 motor. Stock it ran great and now it is tricked out to 13 horsepower with great results.

Just a word of caution , from my experience (although in EU ) that chinese stuff has almost non existant parts backup , they would rather sell another "cheap" one . JMHO

Just save your pennies and by an EU honda.

They are worth EVERY penny.

This is my position on this. With a Honda selling for $1K or less, I don't think saving $400-500 is worth the risk. The Honda is a known: Quality, quiet, reliable. If the price difference was greater, I might be torn, but in this case, I think anything but a Honda will be a disappointment in the long run.

I started the one with a Yamaha engine that I got from Costco. Took two pulls. It is every bit as quiet as advertised. It's by Smarter Tools and is their AP2000i model. It has a fuel cock, and overall seems to have more features for less money than the Honda EU2000i. Not a bad deal for $600 with Costco's return policy...
