Natasha and I went down to Hawn State Park this past weekend to do a little camping and some hiking. Like most Missouri state parks, Hawn is very domesticated and geared towards those with larger camper trailers. This also was the first weekend that reservations could be made and it was the first decent weekend...Hell...the first decent two consecutive days we've had in what seems like forever. Highs in the upper 60's, clear skies, and NO RAIN! With that said, we knew it would probably be full or close to it. We're still learning the ins and outs of our little trailer, so we used this campground with amenities as a dry run of sorts.
The campground setting is nice. It's in a valley with Pickle Creek bordering it to the south. There are several miles of hiking trails through the forests and sandstone bluffs and shut-ins.
Overall we had a fantastic time. The little trailer did great and we are completely happy with it so far. We will absolutely be hitting Hawn State Park again when it's during the off season.
