Head room in ambulance conversions?

What kind of interior height does everyone enjoy with an ambulance conversion of a Ford E-chassis? I know there are different styles and makes of bodies but I'm just interested to get a ball park figure. Information I've found online is 72" unless it is a taller Sprinter type chassis.

I'm just thinking into the future. I'm 6'2" and being able to stand in the vehicle would be nice.

Thanks!

You might fit in a Type I or Type II ambulance as they tend to have taller boxes. I have a 1996 E350 Road Rescue Type III and at 5'-9" I have to tilt my head slightly to the side to stand up straight. I've learned to intuitively cock my head when I stand up. It's to the point I don't think about it, it just happens. I don't do a lot of standing in my ambulance though. Whenever I'm inside I'm either accessing something from a compartment, sitting on the couch, or sleeping on the bed.

Also keep in mind you will have to dodge the hand rail. That's the kicker. Once you get used to the headroom you have to learn where the hand rail is.

I'm 5'10" and in my Type III I have to stand a bit slouched over but really, it's not an issue for me. The only time I'm standing is getting in or out. Any other time I'm just headed for a place to sit or only up for a minute anyway. I'm happier with the lower profile box. It's tall enough as it is without adding more.

I am 5' 8" and I had to kink my head in both of my ford based ambos. Given that we will hopefully be living in the vehicle for months at a time it was an issue for me. This even led me to buy a poptop off a Chinook camper to look at installing that (bloody think is still taking up space in my yard).

While it was not the main driver to changing vehicles it was definitely a contributing factor. The Freightliner has ample headroom for me and that extra height has also opened up the ability to have a bunk bed above the sofa bed to make our vehicle a real sit/sleep 3 rig.

I have 6'2" in the center of my van, I'm 5'8" tall. It's priceless to me to be able to walk around inside the van, or even over the top of stuff without having to be hunched over. Having had a regular height van, and now this big girl, the ability to walk around upright is non-negotiable in future rigs. Next rig will be a 20 passenger bus or a box truck.

Although I'm 6'4", I find walking around to be comfortable in the 5'6". I wouldn't want to be a foot lower... Nor a foot higher.

It's a compromise, but I wouldn't want a 9'4" Truck (starting height)

I have a type II and I'm 6'1". I haven't removed the headliner that covers the metal ribbing but with it in I can walk around with my head cocked to the side.

I'm hoping once I take the headliner panel out I can walk straight up.
