Heading out to WestFest!

I'll be heading out for WestFest in Darby, MT around noon today! :wings: Hope to run into some of you guys there. I'll be trailering my 2002 Dakar over 'cuz the wifey pooh is coming with and she doesn't ride. So look for us by our 2000 silver Tacoma Xcab with the Columbus rooftop tent and the trailer hanging off the rear end.

Hope to do some of the local FS roads and maybe the east half of the MacGruder Corridor while I'm there. :bike_rider:

If you weren't there, you missed a great time!

All I can say is "WOW!!" That was the most fun of my short life as a dualsporter. Met tons of new friends took some great rides and will be back next year. Will also do the MT1000 next year.:bike_rider: That's my silver Tacoma with the rooftop tent in the background of the camping pic.

Hello Hayduke!

Nope, I think we missed each other. I picked up my t-shirts from Tyll and his cute girlfriend, got to talk with Bonnie, but missed her singing and meeting you.

I had my Tacoma with the Columbus pop-up tent and awning up toward the back of the campground. We never did make it to any of the fire pits at night. Instead, we had camp chairs set up and had a continuous round of folks showing up, having a beer, wine, scotch, or Irish whiskey with us and then moving on. Johnny Drunkard brought over some smoked salmon and we had English Coastal and Durbin cheese, along with some Tillimook sharp cheddar on crackers as snacks almost every night. Couldn't match the pulled pork BBQ, though. Trailering the bike turned out to be a great idea, thanks to Nanc, my wife. She doesn't ride yet, so that was the only way to get her there. The Engels reefer kept my beer nice and cold! Great mix of 4WD and dualsporting!

BTW, am wearing the t-shirt right now. Hope to see you at WestFest next year. Bring the cute significant other again. Hopefully Nanc will be riding by then and she and Bonnie can hit the trails together.:bike_rider:

Hope you liked the shirts!

I had to get back and print the Rocky Mountain Adventure Rally shirts- delivered them last night. Looks like there were nearly as many people there as West Fest. DS riding sure has taken off in the last few years.

Sorry we didn't get to chat. I did see your rig up there- nice!

BTW- Bonnie and I got up there a few days early and did our own "Idaho 500" for a few days. Magruder Corridor, Lolo Motorway, Cayuse Creek, Hoodoo Pass... camping off of the bikes is always fun...

And using the van to get past the boring highway drone up there wasn't bad either. :D

Work Sucks!

I was coming, but they changed our hitch rotation to 21 and 21, and knocked me right out of it. Looks like y'all passed a good time!!!

Maybe next year....

Hayduke, we did meet Bonnie

for just a second though. It was at breakfast on Friday, I think. I must say that after me, you and Shady Rascal are two of the luckiest men in the world! I think we all have wonderful wives!

I don't want to miss Bonnie singing next year. Do you accompany her? Hard to believe opera being sung at a DS gathering. Just incredible! :bike_rider:

You may have seen these pics on ADV, but had to show them again. One is of Nanc suited up for her very first bike ride ever. Larry from Edmonton gave her a ride on his 1200 GS. Now, she is actually talking about riding some more. May even go with me, once I have more experience under the Old Fart belt. :coffeedrink:

So hope to run into you two next year. Oh, GREAT shirts!

How did I miss this? Dang, it's just over the hill (sorta) from me here in Anaconda. Now with my luck it'll be about 700 miles away next year... I guess I should stick my head in this forum more often.

You should volunteer to do it! Then you can have it when and wherever you want! LOL

(just kidding, I wouldn't wish that job on anyone.

No thanks, I've had my experience organizing events like this, and while it can be fun and I think I'm damn good at it it is too much stress to not get paid for it. If anyone would like to hire me as a professional event organizer feel free to contact me! Otherwise, I'll sit back and see how this plays out. :sombrero:
