Right now I have an espar diesel heater that works great when it want to.. Im tired of dealing with it. Has anyone ever used a wood stove in their rig?. Ive seen them in sail boats so I know it can be done..

Wood burning stove would be risky. Cut a huge hole in your roof for a chimney, heat clearance,

These propane jobs look pretty cool http://www.dickinsonmarine.com/

Dickinson's propane stove is pretty cool piece of machinery—sleek and modern-looking, with the frames visible through a glass door (so I won't have to completely give up my dreams of reading fireside), and a small fan that we can turn off and on, which will blows hot air through of the bottom of the unit onto the floor, keeping our feet toasty warm through those long mountain winters. We are super excited about this option, loved how easy it was to install, and will post more about it as we fire it up during the winter months up in the mountain

Dickinson Marine does offer a small wood stove I've seen used in a camper - if you use it with charcoal I am told it doesn't have to be fed as frequently...

I've thought about one of these as well...

The Kimberly is very sexy. I am on the verge of pulling the trigger on a wood heater from Dickinson Marine for my trailer (and if it works out, for my Mog). The expected cost all in will be just under $1000 for my trailer. A bit of cash I know but really, I will not be this way again...:coffee:

I respectfully suggest that before spending out on a large and expensive stove, you acquaint yourselves with the beautiful, small, American made Fatsco Stoves!

The high quality, cast iron and stainless steel Pet Stove and Tiny Tot Stove are charcoal/wood burner's used in ice fishing shacks, cabins, live aboard boats, travel vans, etc, for about a century.

I spent six months researching to find a high quality charcoal/wood stove to fit into a small travel van without being too large for the space and consequently being too hot.

The hugely favorable comments from the wooden boat forums, bus and travel van owner's (and the fact that I loved the stove on first sight) led me to buy a Fatsco Pet Stove last year.

These stoves are miniature marvel's, and you can also buy a dual cook top (as well as every single component of each stove as spare parts) should you wish to. They are also remarkably inexpensive (even when shipped to the UK) and the owners of Fatsco were great to deal with, lovely people.

Google Fatsco Pet Stove and Fatsco Tiny Tot Stove and see for yourselves...

Disclaimer: I have no connection to Fatsco other than as an ordinary customer who bought one of their stoves at list price, after months of research to find a small charcoal/wood burner.

Yep! That's about right!

The designer has mentioned that he will be working on making smaller versions, but I'd expect this to take ages to get developed, tested and manufactured... And still be horrifyingly expensive!

Thanks for the link on the Fatsco Stoves. I will consider it before ordering. The base cost of the stove is about the same as the other marine unit I was pricing out. It is the other stuff (SS heat shield, damper, weathercap, SS stove pipe and pipe guard) that double the cost.:coffee:

Here's a tiny cowl I saw for the Fatsco stoves, it's a small, neat unit that I still have not managed to locate in this size.

A Dektite seal flashing kit would work, even on ridged roofs, but I really want the type above.
