Heater and a Tent

We got back yesterday from a [cold] camping/wheeling trip across the border in France. After reading the recent thread about these heaters, I decided to bring mine along and try it out in our RTT, mounted in a similar way as above, but I just used a short bungee cord around the handles and back up to the bar. Since I also did not think the upside down propane bottle would work so well, I bought one of the 8 foot coleman extension hoses, and left the bottle outside the tent on the front portion of my roof rack. Did I mention it was cold? I brought on of those dual temperature thermometers, and it registered that it was 27 degrees outside at 6am, and 62 degrees inside the tent at the same time. thick layer of frost/ice over everything. My wife (who normally is always cold) and I slept very comfortably in the tent, and this little heater is now a permanent part of my camping equipment. We left the outside "flap" open about 6 inches at the foot of the tent, and didnt have any trouble at all.

Halfway though the nigh about 4am, the bottle ran out, and the tent got extremely cold very quickly. I changed out the bottle and within only a few minutes, it was nice and toasty again. I have the camping labs / arb style RTT, so its not huge. We mounted it on the center/highest bar, and didnt have a problem with burning ourselves, but with younger kids, I would be extremely careful because the face of these things get ridiculously hot.

The only thing I am going to do differently is buy a larger propane bottle and get a bulk adapter for the heater, as well as a T for my kitchen, that way we dont have to change bottle in the middle of the night.
