Help with 2UZ head gasket issue

Hi All,

I usually hang out in the Toyota Tacoma/PU/4Runner forum, as I have a '00 Tundra, with a 2UZ.

It seems I might have a couple blown headgaskets. Unbelievably, I am coming up quite empty on finding any info on the replacement procedure, but even more importantly, sourcing a quality headgasket set. I cant even come up with anything on TundraSolutions, of all places...Google hasnt even really helped...Are blown HGs such a rarity with the 2UZ, that theres no info or decent kits out there???
All I can find are kits by Evergreen, DNJ/Rock, or buying individual OEM pieces.

I'm also interested in finding any info on 2UZ specific issues or things to know, involved with HG replacement. Wondering if there is any thing else that should be replaced or check while I have the top end off.
Oh, I'll also finally be doing the TB/WP replacement I've been putting off for a few months...So I'll be pretty deep into the motor.

So, do any of you 100-series guys have any leads or info?

Why wouldn't you want to replace with OEM parts?

Well, for starters, Toyota doesnt seem to sell a "kit"...I would like to find a reputable kit, with all the parts necessary included. Toyota doesnt seem to offer a headgasket kit...I would have to spend time and research, to put together my own list of parts, then order individually from Toyota...Seems every time I order a bunch of stuff from a Toyota dealer/online source, I have to wait a week or more just for them to get all the parts in, then another week to ship...I cant afford the down time...i want to order a kit, and get it in 2 or 3 days.

Again, I'm coming up empty on info for the 2UZ, even using Google, IH8MUD, TundraSolutions, here, and even several Lexus forums...I've never run across this before with any of the previous, and many, Toyota models I have owned.

Also, buying direct from Toyota OEM is not always the best option...There ARE better parts out there than OEM, or there are OEM parts that can be had for about half the price of buying from Toyota.
Case in point, I got a full Aisin TB/WP kit from Amazon, which ARE the exact same parts as OEM, for about half of what Toyota wants, and again, in about 1/4 the time.

I am not against using OEM, and do so whenever I can, but like I said, buying OEM from Toyota is not always the best option, and I usually save it for last.
