High Top Interchangeability?

Shopping for a top for my RB 4th gen Econoline, the junkyards are light right now but another member on here (Shenrie) found a couple RB 3rd gen tops. Neither of us knew if they would swap over. Anyone try it before? While we're talking about it, any interchangeability between brands?

Sorry man 😕 Seriously though, I've seen quite a bit of the fiberene style tv tops like the one I have on conversion vans at our local pick n pulls. None eb, but prolly a good 5-6 since Ive been paying attention when I got my van in 2013. Since yours is an rb I'm guessing you won't have a huge wait. They aren't a highly sought after item. I can only recall seeing one top removed from one of those vans.

Since school is back in I'm back to having Friday afternoons to myself, so I'll have to get back to monthly trips out to the Nampa and Caldwell yards. Need to find a proper propane tank too.

You might keep an eye out for smaller RV take-off tanks. For example Vanagon/Eurovan Westfalia tanks. Owners will remove old/crusty tanks to replace them with new ones. The tanks are ASME type, and are nearly indestructible. A bit of clean and paint, and many are still good to go.

In europe they use portable tanks. The key is to mount them inside the van in a sealed locker. The locker will have a vent which leads to the outside of the vehicle for safety.

The dodge top will work with similar year econoline, but you'll lose about 2" in height trimming the edges to fit the steeper slope of the dodge front. This will only work with a fiberine style top. If it had the turned under edge (better top given the choice) you'd have to trim that off. Length an width wise they are close enough to make it work. I bought my top from fiderine and it was originally intended to be a dodge top. After some scribing and trimming it fit just fine.
