Hino 500 Dakar Race Truck Suspension

I've been reading about the "forbidden fruit" Hino 500 4x4 (NOT for the US Market) and stumbled onto the Dakar Racing Truck based on the Hino 500.

Understanding that Dakar Racing and Overlanding are two seperate ventures, some suspension modification information is mention that might apply to Fuso FG or Isuzu applications as well.

"The suspension has undergone countless improvements year after year, and currently uses a multi-leaf suspension by Horikiri, Inc. and shock absorbers by Reiger Racing per wheel."

That is nothing for a Race Truck! In Dakar, I have met a guy with his MAN 8x8. 1200HP, tank transmission, top speed over 200!!! He said it's kind of freaky to go that fast, because you never know if the tires will hold :Wow1:

from the same link to Hino racing trucks (http://www.hino-global.com/dakar/team_sugawara/racing_trucks.html)
The truck needs a total fuel capacity of 600 liters because regulations require that the vehicle be able to drive 800km without refueling.

Somewhat obscene IMHO considering my Hino does 1100km on 300L with a dirty air cleaner and no oil. Then again, I'm not doing 170km/h either! xD

looking forward to the next mileage test soon with new air cleaner and oil!!!
