Well, I started my rear bumper build on the HJ45.

I got tired of driving it around daily with no protection. Let me know what you guys think.

Nice pile of parts so far.

Laser or water jet cut? I like the sombreros. Are the "H" looking pieces? High lift holes?

No the "H" is actually a bottle opener gusset. I don't know where or if I'm going to use it, but I thought I would go ahead and get it and only pay shipping once. Laser cut. Those came from Blue Torch Fab.

I can not say enough good about this cold saw. It cuts through metal with great ease, clean cuts and amazing speed. I just found out Milwaukee came out with a 14" blade on there version. This is the 12" Makita.

I made some mounting plates, welded to receiver hitch to the plates, so the whole thing could be removed. I'll put extra outriggers for support that will also be mounted to plates, bolted to the frame.

Here are the gusset's that will hold the tow safety chains. They are mocked up for now. I need to take another 1/8 off the bumper, to make it flush with the receiver.

Here is where I'm seeking your advice...I cut the ends at a 45* and had them extended. I did this to place a swing out tire carrier and a swing out diesel can rack. Before you ask, "Why do you need an exterior rack on a truck?" I have a matching metal camper shell that goes with the truck and I don't want that stuff in the bed if I can help it.

I'm not crazy about the 45* cuts. What do you guys think?

I hope this makes sense, halfway of the 45 degree make a vertical cut. It'll soften that angle and take that leg banger point of of there.
