I am also building a camper and am struggling with a system to lift the roof.
Do find the actuators get in the way of the 'skirt' folding when lowering the roof?
Its a little tight. If I were to do it again, I would move the actuators inboard a couple of inches.

@Trefotymag I don't know how I just now stumbled onto your build thread, I thought I had read all the DIY cab-over threads! Very nice work. I'm in the framing stages of my build at the moment and had a question. I too am framing with mostly 2x2 lumber. Did you find the angle braces under the cab-over were necessary after you had built it due to flex, or did you add those as a 'just in case' scenario? I've been thinking that truss style structure would be enough for a 48" cantilever but now I'm questioning myself.
Thanks!

Here is my build. Started on April 5, 2019. I never really had a plan. Just started measuring and building. I didn't want to buy an old camper and fix it up. I don't think I could have found something that fit what I wanted. My wish list included
1. Sleep myself, wife and two kids, or
1b. Myself and a hunting buddy (who is over 6' tall)
2. Heater for the winter
3. Ability to stay off grid without a generator for multiple days
4. Lots of storage

I don't need or want a sink, water heater, toilet, or built in stove. All of that adds weight and can be accomplished other ways.

This is what I came up with. This is on our first trip this year. About 95% done. Still need to finish drawers, paint exterior trim and trim out the roof.

The whole frame is built out of 2"x2"s glued and screwed
Did you make your own 2x2’s from 2x4’s or did you just buy 2x2 lumber? I need to get my build going. Just not sure how to best do it. And what pocket jig did you use and also screws and length? Thx

Not to hijack, but on mine, I'm using 1.5x1.5" ripped down from 2x4 select pine. It's cheaper than 2x2's and a heck of a lot straighter. I don't think I've ever seen a 2x2 at the big box store that wasn't severely bowed or twisted.
