Any comments on a shock absorber I'm thinking about making to tie down my Palomino 1200 to my frame mounted supports?

Obviously the density of the rubber is going to be important, maybe a trail and error type of deal to find what you like.
But I have to wonder, with so many different type of spring loaded tie downs on the market (that are fairly affordable), what are you trying to accomplish?

The least inexpensive spring loaded tie downs I've found are $150 - $175 for four. Not expensive....but not inexpensive either. Please advise if there is a product I'm missing.

But more importantly, I simply love making stuff.......:)

That sounds affordable to me. And proven. I had torklift fastguns, great product, easy and quick to use.
Factor in the time you'll spend to make these and the money you'll put in. But hey if you just like to make stuff that's cool! I'm just saying there are good affordable products on the market that are proven and come win a warranty.

My Happijacs are 13 yrs old now. Aside from some chrome deterioration, they work fine. Fronts are spring loaded, rears are fixed I believe.
