How do you store fruits and vegetables so they don't rot and don't get damaged?

For those of you who are out there doing it, how do you store fruits and vegetables while driving so they don't rot and don't get damaged while driving?

Thanks

I use one of those cheap small plastic baskets you can buy most places and stack items in it; you can wrap a towel around it and stick it in a cabinet or your cooler and that'll usually keep the items from bouncing out. I've also got a gear hammock in both vehicles which keeps items like bread and bananas from getting mangled. The easiest thing is to buy small amounts and just stop at a market to buy more when needed; I'm almost always traveling alone so I don't need a lot.

Are the baskets you use for fruit like these?
