How much?

What is a 1997 80 series worth? How much should I pay? It has 155,000 miles good to excellant condition. No rust clean interior with on tear on the drivers seat. What expected maintenance would need to be performed right away? Possible trade my 2000 Taco for this.:coffee:

There are exceptional deals out there, once in awhile.

That truck at $7500 is a great deal, at $10,000 it is a good deal, at $15,000 it is overpriced and still a great truck. If you and the seller are happy, it's good.

Just remember these are superb and lasting vehicles. You are buying something that could easily last the rest of your life, so choose carefully.

You know it uses a lot of gas, right?

In a completely stock and very well tuned up state you could possibly achieve those kind of highway miles per gallon.

Sounds like a very nice 80! Look it over thoroughly...

Not to concerned with the MPG. I think I could expect 16-17 on the Hiway.

LOL-Well, good luck with that.

Totally stock, with a light foot, you might occasionally break 15mpg. My personal record over the last 12 years was 17 with a consistent tail wind on I-5.

Any modification for backcountry travel at all, and 12-14 will be the norm.

Just go into this with your eyes open.

I paid $10 almost 3 yrs ago for my 97 40th in Sage with lockers and 145k on the clock. No leather issues. I don't think I got a killer deal, it was just exactly what I was looking for. Plus it was an Arizona truck so there was no sign of rust. I would think somewhere in the $7-8k range would be a good deal.

I got 18mpg once out of my 93 on along trip with stock tires. I drove 200 miles to moab twice in the last three weeks and got about 13mpg with my 285's, roof top tent and 5 people.

Prices may be location dependent. There are a few in Chicago in the $6k range. They may have a little more mileage but look to be in decent shape. Not sure what options they have and i'm sure a PPI is needed to uncover any issues.

Thanks! The dealer that is selling it has had it for three weeks (long time) I'm going to go down Monday and chew the fat to see what I can work. That is if it didnt sell. The weather has been bad here and the dealer is located in a high end part of Seattle so I think it will still be around.

Just got a 98 100 series with 115,000. One owner, all records, great condition. And got 18mpg on the highway driving it back from Phoenix to Santa Fe, NM.

Needless to say, I'm all smiles about the car :wings:. Won't rely on that mpg prevailing though.
Good luck with your 97.
cheers

Any vehicle from Chicago probably has the "rust" option!! That alone knocks a few grand off the price in my books.
