How To Isolate Section Of 12 V Freezer To Use As Refrigerator?

I have an ICECO VL60 Dual Zone 12 volt chest fridge / freezer. The VL60 has two completely separate compartments with two top opening doors. Most of the freezer compartment is empty because I usually only use about 1/3 of it. Before I start experimenting, I was wondering if anyone has sectioned off a part of their freezer so they can use it as a refrigerator? (My fridge compartment is set to 38 degrees and the freezer side is set to 18 degrees.) I would like to section off part of the freezer so it is about 38 degrees. Whatever material I use to create this space must be easily removable.

Have you done this successfully? If so, how did you do it and what materials did you use?

Thanks???

I don't know if it would work, but my Engel has a plastic partition surrounded by rubber (I'm assumed it's filled with foam, and two rubber mats for the floor, I can make the whole thing fridge or freezer by taking the partition out. I can also change the size of the freezer area to the large basket or the small basket (and moving the appropriate rubber mat)

My guess it works using that metal (curved piece in the back) , that when you turn it down to freezing the metal get's colder to freeze and the plastic insert blocks that and the fridge side only uses what's inside the walls to stay cool.

Don't know if that helps you any, but thought it would be good to see what a manufacturer does.

Thanks! The partition between the two compartments in my Iceco isnt removable like yours is. I called Iceco and found out where the coils are located so I’m going to experiment with a couple digital thermometers and a sheet of foam.
