I currently have a SOT 12.6ft kayak and would like to get a RTT soon but how do I manage both on the roof of my XJ???
Comments, pictures and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

extra long cross bars and offset the kayak to the side, and on the port or starboard side hull? How are you mounting the RTT?

I don't have a RTT picked out yet or the mounting system for it. I currently use the stock roof rack with the http://www.thule.com/en-US/US/Products/Watersports/WatersportCarriers/883-Glide-and-Set holding my kayak on....
I'd like to think I'm thinking ahead and making sure I can do both before buying everything then getting stuck with items I can't use.

You do realize that the stock rack will not support a RTT and will have to upgrade to a gutter mount system, or remove the stock rack and use the factory holes in the roof to mount a more solid rack.

I have the ARB tent mounted on my trailer and I am planning to carry a canoe on the trailer at the same time... My plan is just to weld up 2 hoops/crossrails onto the roofrack at the front and rear that are slightly taller then the RTT (when it's folded up). The canoe will just go on those.

That will only work for you though if you have your tent setup to unfold over the side of your vehicle... if you're opening it to the rear, then you're outta luck obviously.

With just one kayak, why not mount a flat roof rack for the RTT, and in the front and back have bars raised up just higher than the RTT; thus creating a stand for the kayak. back> [________] <front RTT in the middle
