Hunting for a Gen II, DOHC vs SOHC?

Ok the decession has been made for me. Hagled a lil with the price on the white one. Set up a time to meet the kid/owner told him I will bring cash. Me, "Do you have the title?" Him "Ahhh....no, not really. It will be here next week." Guess I'm buying a blue Montero.

The t-belt was changed at 60,000 it now has 120,000. Isnt the manufacturer recommendation 60,0000 intervals? Real world how often are you guys changing your t-belt, water pump and plugs? How much do I need to budget for parts?

I had the timing belt, water pump, plugs, etc. replaced at around 60k the first time and
around 120k the second time. I believe the required interval is 60k, but a few states required the factory longevity for the t-belt to be 100k. The thing is, I believe they both used the same part #. Do a search on the Mitsu forum on the 4x4wire.com. Regardless, replace it for peace of mind. I'm not the most skilled fella with this stuff and didn't trust my ability, so I paid a shop. IIRC, it was $1300. It also included tranny fluid and accessory belts, maybe a few other things too.

Well, looking at the carfax, I would have recommended the blue one. They have both been in accidents, but more than likely minor. Use the T-belt as a negotiating tool.

Per the owner on the of the blue one truck, He was rear ended but the hitch took impact. No damage to the truck. I guess the truck was his wife's and they purchased a gold waranty package and she was pretty meticulous about the upkeep. I was able to get him down just a bit, but the price is fair. He is a real nice guy, lost his job, so Im not more than willing to pay a fair price.

Picked up the blue one thurs. Not as clean inside as I had hoped for. But then again, it wont hurt as much when she sees dirt and gets used to her potential.
