I want to by a used Eezi Awn 70" or 86"

That just about says it, I want to buy an Eezi Awn 70" or 86" (1800 or 2200 family) but none are available right now from Martyn at AT, and he thinks there are none at any of the US dealers. Importing a single unit presents some pretty big hurdles, so I'm looking for a used one. Let me know if you know anyone who might be interested in selling.

Thanks,

Roy

Not sure what a Eezi Awn 70 or 86 is, are you looking for one of their awnings or there root top tents?

RoyP is referring to the width of the tents in inches.

You know them under their metric guise as the 2200 or Family Tent, and the 1800.

I think this is an Expo first for people being confused by Imperial measurements vs. Metric :)

Hi all,

Yes, my nephews ridicule me all the time for the imperial units I use! I'm an american architect, and old habits die hard ( ie. 3 yards divided into five parts is, um, 1'-9 3/4" or there abouts, ... I just picked those numbers out of the air, there, for a funny example... they have nothing to do with the tent :)

Anyway, I am looking for an 1800 or a 2200 eezi awn, preferring the 1800, actually.

I'm looking for a large one because I intend to leave a mattress only on one half of the tent and flip that over off the side of a 4' x 6' or so trailer, and then cut out most of the bottom of the other half so I can stand inside the trailer, under the tent... I have my reasons :)

Any help locating an eezi awn will be greatly appreciated. (Thanks again Martyn for the phone help and checking overseas, too!)

To be continued...

Equipt Expedition Outfitters in Salt Lake is an Eezi Awn dealer. I have heard they have plenty of stock. You might check them out and see if they have what you need.

I do not know how big your trailer is going to be, but I should think that the "Family" tent would work well for your needs. I was actually think someone could do that just the other day. Anyhow, check them out...

The terrible problem about getting used RTTs is that only the most serious Overlanders tend to go with the bigger units, as cost is usually prohibitive to the weekenders.

Not to mention the average RTT is actually used by their owners, they are difficult to find used.

I would check this and other offroad forums for a "divorce sale" or a trailer sale where the seller is willing to part out the components.

However, since serious depreciation on RTTs is rare, I would be saving for a brand new one anyway.

Next year is my RTT year. I plan on the 2200 for my trailer build, and I am afraid that I am going to have to bite the bullet and shell out the entire $2300 or whatever AT sells it for.

Roy - I have a Eezi Awn Series 3 1800 that I purchased form AT Trailers in August, 2007 and mounted on a AT Horizon. It has probably been used a dozen times, is in excellent condition and is always parked in my garage when not in use.

The reason I'm selling is that most of the time I'm out by myself and I don't need that big of a RTT. I want to replace it with an EA Globetrotter, but Paul May at Equipt says they won't make it here until August and even that may not be certain.

In any case I'm willing to sale the EZ 1800 for $1,500 plus shipping.

I also will be selling a Fiamma F-35 6x6 awning and the SS telescoping brackets that mount on a Horizon AT, as these have to be removed to mount the Globetrotter on my Horizon.

Hi Scott,

Sounds fantastic. If possible, I want to confirm one thing. I'm 5'-6" or 5-7. I want be sure I can lie down in the 70" direction in the tent. That's the shorter direction. I don't know how tall you are, but I wonder if you have ever tried it that way. Or, could you take a tape to the inside going the short direction from frame to frame, or what ever is the narrowest element you might brush up against if you slept laying the shorter direction in the tent. (As I mentioned earlier in the thread, that's how I'm going to use it.) I'd appreciate it..

I'll send you a pm with my cell number, or you can send me back your number and a time to ring you, and I'll ring you to work through the details...
