This reminds me of one of Steve McQueen's last movies. He was playing an eccentric bounty hunter, and would only drive old cars, and only liked antique things. Someone asked him why and he said "New things are just no damned good!" :-D

Well I did a job for an old gear head who recommended pulling the valve covers to check for a stuck valve, which could explain the loss of vacuum.
