This one is going to be our North American rig. The big yellow one will eventually be going through central and south America but on a long term basis. We will store it in other countries between visits so we are looking at it being unusable for 10 months a year.

So enter an opportunity to replace the rig I regretted selling. This one is clean, low miles and well fitted out. First vehicle I have bought in 10 years that didn't need seats and tires plus it has working AC.

Looking forward to using it for short weekend runs etc. But the big rig will be our international/longer term vehicle.

Finally a vehicle with a short build list.

  1. Put on winch bumper and winch (removed from gold ambo)
  2. Put on alloy wheels (removed from gold ambo)
  3. Check all running gear especially brakes (I think the Freightliner has spoiled me)
  4. Replace the motor-generator that supplies 110v with an inverter (left over from gold ambo)

Unusable for 10 months/year? Careful, someone here might make you an offer to use it the other 10 months.;)

Congrats.

I'm surprised by the number of people who've bought more than one ambulance. Before I bought mine, I read many opinions that ambulances have been abused, and they're money pits... I found a steal of a deal on one, so I bought one anyways... But my experience has been to the contrary, and that you've bought another also suggests otherwise.

It's a money pit if you decide to make it one. I made a rule of not treading too far from scrap value in case a massive repair was needed down the road. Major repairs later I am still not into the rig more than my initial purchase cap.

Why are you dumping the generator? For me a generator is an emergency power source to run the block heater on a frozen winter morning among many other things.
