iPad Mount for Gen3 Montero

I posted this on OverlandBound and got zero response, so, I figured maybe I’m in the wrong place. I love the Montero action over here, so I will try and post more here.

We use our iPad Air2 128GB to run Gaia maps, and play music, and we have 60 or so movies on it for entertainment if needed.

We pair the iPad to a Bad Elf GPS Pro+ for satellite acquisition for Gaia maps.

This system has never failed us while in the Idaho backcountry, as long as I download offline maps of the area before leaving home.

Mount details: Otterbox Defender iPad case. Otterbox clip-on hardshell cover with stand/prop removed. Large phillips screws with fender washers. 2x6 wood with angled cut on one side, sanded all the way around to slide/wedge into the stock cubby under the clock. No bouncing or movement while underway, just pure Gaia goodness.

*WOW this forum is way easier to post multiple pictures on!!!

Clever! Love a setup that can be brought back to stock looking in minutes... errr... in this case... SECONDS! Nice work.

Correct. XLS has the cubby hole. Could easily be sourced from a junkyard though... I mean, how often do you really use the inclinometer :)

I have an android double din (Joying JY-UO135N4G ) in the radio spot with the climate control moved down to where the CD Changer was. When that doesn't serve its purpose for nav, I also have a RAM mount for a 8" tablet.

But I like your idea.

Yah I looked at all the aftermarket mounts. I'm not a fan of putting holes in OEM plastic/metal. I'm also not a fan of spending hundreds of dollars on a piece of Chinese aluminum/plastic :)

No holes with my RAM, mounts to a seat mount bolt. I see you have an iPad - guess where that is made...

Oh I wasn’t complaining about China specifically, I was specifically complaining about paying $100 for a “piece” of plastic/aluminum.

My opinion is that most things these days are overpriced. $3000 roof top tents. $60,000 trailers. $60,000 trucks. Who can afford this stuff? No one has their house paid off. Everyone is in debt up to their ears. Mothers can’t afford to stay at home and raise their kids...

So, to combat this situation, I made a mount for $0, out of stuff I had laying around :):):)
