Jason,

No worries.... actually Yes and No, and for what I was able to gather, their platform is less proprietory than Apple, but MOST IMPORTANTLY by going Android, I can get rid of AT&T ( not only they will loose me, my company, but when I was in the Hotel Industry - still perform consulting duties - I gave them the contract for several hundreds of hotels x 60 plans average, and as the ************ that I am... I will take it away just as easy , a matter of principals to me).

You might want to rethink that. At the very least get the new phone before you sell your iPhone. You can put your iPhone on T-Mobile for about $80/month with unlimited everything. I picked up a Droid and am struggling to have the patience to get through the 30-day trial period. Coming off an iPhone, any Android phone will be a tough pill to swallow unless you really enjoy feeling like a beta tester. At least on the Droid, everything feels half-baked and half-complete. The iPhone may be a walled garden, but at least it works -- flawlessly.

That said, and since this is an overland travel forum, there are some really cool GPS apps for Android, both free and paid.

Hey,

Thanks for the input, but I was able to paly with Droid for few days ( a demo from Verizon ) and I think I am okay to deal with the challenges.

As for T-mobile, while I thought of it ( Jailbreak it and unlock it ) their service in my house it is not existing, and my inlaws leave in the Country as well with almost no service from them as well.

I am checking all apps for the Droid and welcome any recommendations

Thanks again
