Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
It's shady, buy it because you'll wish you had when it becomes 25 and legal.

I've often thought about buying something late model (15 year mark) from Canada and sitting on it until it gets legal. 10 years seems like a long time but it's not like you couldn't enjoy it in the mean time (trailer, offroad only until the 25 year kicks in).

Toasty, I've thought of the same thing and living close to the border had me thinking about it. But from what I understand, the truck would have to be pretty much completely disassembled to be able to come across. It would have to be labeled for parts only. If it was any where close to driveable they would take it.

I see so many beautiful Delicas around my area it makes me so envious. Although, you could buy one and put it in storage up in Canada. The dollar is king up there again.

I don't see how he could post it on eBay if it was not legally able to be registered. I did not look to see if it had current plates on it. Maybe limited import grey market type thing?
Frankly here in California the only thing that would cause alarm would be the Diesel engine since they were not imported to the US. If they don't catch it, I guess your OK.
Once registered though I'm pretty sure it is old enough to never have to be inspected again.

Had a buddy of mine take his ex 6.2 diesel Chevy crew cab to the auto club to register it from Oregon.
He installed a 350 in it.
He purposely left the hydraulic lifters a little loose so they heard some ticking and put a big air cleaner on it and they signed it off!
How he gets away with this crazy stuff I'll never know.

I think it's easier to cheat those things through in the northern states, this isn't the first one nor the newest one made legal here. Just know that it is not in fact legal, how ever it was made "legal" was a cheat. I'm not against it jut be careful out on the road if you choose to take it there.

evol911, Maybe have a Canadian bring it across for you and fly home? That way it's in one piece for storage, It's my understanding they are really only illegal for road use, you can bring anything for race use or if you are a citizen of another country. So temporarily side step some rules with the intent on becoming fully legal?
