First of all this posting involves my responsibilities at work and one of them is to figure out the best solution to adding a bank of AUX batteries.
I've spoken at length with some electrical guru's at NOCO, Battery Mart and Power Brite to figure out what my company needs, but I still have one more questions.
With a system that supports a 10 amp draw from the AUX batteries I was told that our trucks with internal regulated alternators(External Sensing/Self Exciting) at 110 amps can't be wired to an isolator THEN to our AUX batteries. NOCO electrical engineer said I need to find a REGULATOR to wire between the ALTERNATOR and the AUX batteries, because an ISOLATOR will not work.
IS this info true? If so, what regulator do I need and will it keep the cranking batteries from being drained??
Have you guys ever heard of this type alternator not working with an isolator?
I'm not in a situation where I can spend company money to "try out" an isolator and it not be the gear we need.
