It's all your fault I had to buy an ambulance to convert........

that's my story and I'm sticking to it
Any way its a 1990 F350 (type 1) with 26000 miles on it with the 7.3 idi diesel. The door jamb sticker shows it was made by Collins Ambulance, that I found out owns Wheeled Coach. The previous owner removed the console to put in a newer bench seat that is very comfy but leaves me with some wiring questions. Currently there is limited power to the ambulance box. The lights all come on in the compartments, and the small lights at the steps come on when the main doors are opened. I think there should be a master switch that is not hooked up any more along with the switches for the outside lights. Here are some pics if anyone can help point me in the right direction. On the one behind the driver seat what is missing from the top stud? I think the small gauge wires rolled in a loop all go into the switch box? I haven't done any wire chasing yet since I got home in the dark and an ice storm. Just looking for some direction to start looking as soon as the weather breaks.

Type 3s have a wiring diagram mounted on the wall in the electrical 'room'. Don't know about 1s.

There likely is a kill solenoid... And many functions may only work when there is oil pressure. Best of luck. Welcome to the sickness.

The junction strip was likely for radio connections.

Larger leads appear to reconnected to eliminate 2nd battery bank if I had to guess.

I'll put better pics when the sun is up and I can get building. Ran like a champ on the 160 mile trip home.

What's the black box behind the seat? You should be able to figure out which bundle used to go to the front board. You'll have to figure out which one trips the master, and then you can manually turn functions on and off to figure out what's what. Be aware that some signal wires are negative switches.and some are positive.

If you can whittle down what you want to be able to turn on from the front a small blue seas switch panel will do fine.

The small black box has the rocker switches for the exterior lights. So far I did remove wires that went to no where, like the siren bundle and some odd balls that must have been added at one point for things that are no longer there.

Nice! Looks like a pretty good setup. Are you going to cut in your walk-through? Looks like they gave you a perfect spot for it there.

I've been debating that one. Not real sure how we're going to lay out the conversion. This was a fire company support unit not an ambulance so it has cabinets on both sides instead of a patient area right now. Time to start measuring anr deciding.

Judging by the photos you are probably still going to want to gut the passenger side. Otherwise you are going to loose your exterior compartments and have to relocate your tank fill ports and electrical controls. Also you'll find that the sliding glass on the driver side cabinets is a very nice feature and is worth saving.

Edit:

You may find this album interesting. Features a walk-through so you can get a sense of how much space it will require.
