I previously posted this picture of the engine compartment of a brand new demo 70 series pickup in Namibia (at the vehicle storage place where my U500 camper is located).
It’s a 2.4L twin turbo diesel. The owner of the place, who’s a gearhead and currently drives a souped up 70 with the 4.5L V8 diesel, said it’s got same or more hp and torque, burns 35-40% less fuel. Has a 6 speed automatic, even so was very impressed with it.
This is a guy who who drives his current 7x up to ~160 kph when on pavement outside the city.

And the MSRP in USD in Namibia is in low 40s, not $70+k.
Full transparency; my first LC was a new FJ40 in 1969. Curren LC is Brazil built OJ50, currently getting Orion TC, 4.56s and diff lockers. Daily driver is 09 BMW X5 35d.
Sadly, the window of opportunity for selling new 70s in USA has probably passed due to emissions etc.

Good video but he completely missed the fact that the Prado has been sold for years in the US, just it has a lexus badge on it.

He's not wrong about Toyota's completely random naming though

On this side of the pond the Prado has been sold without the Prado add on and it has been the big land cruiser that had an add on being sold as the Land Cruiser Amazon in the UK and Ireland at least

He quickly mentioned it at the 21:20 mark, while standing in front of the red FJ Cruiser. He probably should have spent more time on that though.....I would have, as I think it's very relevant to the video's topic.
