Bastards!!!
What info did they steal? Hard to really answer your question without knowing this.
In order to make a key someone would need the factory key code.
They SHOULD need the registration in order to prove ownership to obtain this code.
However the dealer or locksmith SHOULD match a photo ID to the registration before providing this number.
Im sure there are many unscrupulous ways around this but if someone has a connection in those circles all they need is your VIN and its in plain sight through the windshield.
What year, and model Jeep? Is your key chipped?
If so, that gives you another layer of protection.
Is your address on the insurance card or registration? If it was broken into at your house not a big deal but away from there then it gives them a place to go if they want to mess with you further. I get ALL of my mail sent to a P.O. Box and have done so for 17 years. It costs me a little extra but I don't have to worry about mail being stolen out of the box at the end of my drive and anyone stealing, it as in your case, doesn't know where I live.
Just take a long walk around the neighborhood and look in the bushes and dumpsters. You’ll hopefully find your stuff there.
