Jerome, AZ

A few weeks ago I went up to Jerome with my parents and rode on the Verde Valley Railroad. It's a 4 hour trip..2 hours in, 2 hours out. The first fall colors I saw this season here in AZ. The smoke you see in some of the pictures is from a controlled fire that was going on that day. C&C welcome.

Nice! We drove through Jerome last year apart of another trip. However we didn't have time to stop and do the tourist thing...which we now regret.

Great pic's Natalie

If you're ever back in the area, make sure to check out the Gold King Ghost Town just above/behind the town of Jerome

Its not a true ghost town per-say, but the owner is a collector of old vehicles and really rare trucks. Its a great addition to any Jerome visit

We'll have to check out the Railroad trip now that you've posted those great pictures

Thank you! I was happy to see fall colors, but I had some great views along the way so I am pleased with a lot of the shots I got though there was some harsh light at times. I will definitely put that on my list of places to go - sounds pretty cool to me!

If you do check out that railroad trip, there are two times early in the morning or in the afternoon. We went in the afternoon (1 p.m.) and it made for some harsh light in the beginning but the sun was starting to go down on the way back which made for some really nice colors. Don't pay for the expensive seats, you will just find yourself outside on the open carts standing most of the time to take pictures and sitting on wooden benches ocassionally.

Nice pictures, Natalie.

That's a fun train trip. I've got some nice memories on that train.

You didn't mention it, but did you happen to spot a bald eagle?

Love that last shot.

Also in that area is Dead Horse Ranch, nice place to camp, they also have cabins.
Straight across the river from Tuzigoot Ruins.

Thanks Fangars. Maybe we can go out there with you and your wife sometime, sounds like a good trip to me :)

Thank you! I didn't see any close up, but I got some shots of some flying around. They showed us where a nest use to be, but they have been there in awhile according to the guide.
