Jerry cans on stock roof rack?

I have a 100 series and wanted to mount the front runner double jerry can holder. My question is how do I mount them? I wanted to use yakima mighty mounts but I am unsure of whether to use the vertical or horizontal mighty mounts.

Another option I had was to use the rotopax containers, but I'd like to avoid using plastic containers.

Options for mounting the front runner jerry can holder would be appreciated

Some sort of platform would work best....whether it be a Yakima load warrior or even just a plywood floor attached to the crossbars....depending upon how jury rigged you want.

The can holders from Front Runner, Adventure Trailers, African Outback Products or Expedition Exchange would mount to the floor pretty easily.

If you're using NATO style cans, there is always the possibility of strapping them down inside the cargo area. I've done this several time and never had an issue with fumes.

IIRC the total load limit (dynamic) of the stock roof rack is about 150lbs....so you should be good to go if it's only one or two cans.
