Just a quick storage tip

I’m getting ready for a two week camping trip through Colorado and while getting all of my must haves together I started thinking about my vehicles needs. I install home theatre systems for a living and I have a lot of tools and supplies that I need to keep dry and secure. I started thinking about using one of my larger bins but decided on one of my smaller ones to save a little space, plus, I mean if you need to take a ton of extra fluids for your vehicle maybe you should stay home. So what I wanted to take is just bare essential top off fluids, a quart of oil, a quart of tranny fluid, brake fluid, transfer case fluid, and a gallon of antifreeze. If I rearrange it differently I’m sure I could fit more in there. it’s a modular case so it’s stackable, it’s waterproof, (or leakproof) and at only $29 is well worth the money, I beat the hell out of mine and I’ve had no problems whatsoever! Just thought I’d share!

It's a neat fit. It's an expensive case to do it with if you don't already have something like it laying around. And personally I'd never store those sorts of fluids in anything but an upright orientation. Especially once they are breached / opened.

I put all my fluids in two milk crates with a stratchet strap to secure it. IMO 1 quart of oil is not enough, same with tranny fluid. Then again, my rover burns a bit of oil

I'd swap the gal of coolant for 2 one gal jugs of distilled water. Bonus: can drink it, and fits perfectly in the milk crate.

Here's a picture

Crate 1
2x gal distilled water
1 gal ATF
1 gal white gas (I use coleman dual fuel for lantern, stove, and wok stove - no propane)
can of butane (for PowerProbe soldering iron and mini-torch)
hand goop

Crate 2
1 gal motor oil
2x gal drinking water
misc things like bottled water, BeFree, etc

Then I have power steering fluid, brake fluid, carb cleaner, and others in a Cub Pack.

Need to add diff oil, probably 3 quarts (enough to change transfer case, or one diff)

I too am a milk crate fan... but I like the rigid box idea; Thanx!
If camping; you will almost certainly be carrying 2.5 to 10 gallons of potable water, just figure on using some of it, or river water, if you need extra coolant... check; the radiator cap rubber, all hoses and belts before the trip.
(I usually have a container of stop leak along (tape the ends on if you use the silver or gold powder); occasionally my fan has chewed on the radiator, off road The CJs would do this but the XJ didn't).
Check your vehicle specs and see if you can use your ATF fluid for the power steering.
I normally carry a small container of brake fluid, too.
If fording rivers seriously consider carrying more than one quart of oil (a complete change) and check the diffs, tranny etc. for water after returning to "civilization".

Enjoy!
