My Nephew and his wife both recently got out of the Army and came to visit for the Holidays. After spending the last 4 years in Germany and Iraq, they were ready to see some sights and I was more than happy to oblige them. With only a limited amount of time, I decided we would take a day trip down to the K trail Fire Tower for a look-see.
Made it to the 3 sticks monument
Some ************** decided to put a special tag on the monument. See if you can spot it. :-B
Unfortunately I didn't get any wheeling shots on the way up but we did get some pretty nice ones at the tower. There were a few large puddles that were frozen over giving me good indication that we would probably be the only ones at the top. Once at the tower I noticed fresh tracks leading down to the old homestead and not a second later saw a newer white Jeep Wrangler coming up the hill. I waved to them but they seemed uninterested in our excistence and paid us no mind as they traveled down the trail we just came up. About 10 minutes later an older Tacoma came up from the opposite direction with two semi-shady looking characters in the typical Mossy Oak outfits that you might expect from those parts. They were kind enough to give us a half wave as they passed by and carried on their way. With the stories I've read on here about run-ins with some of the locals in this area, we were ready for anything and perhaps a little over cautious but ready none the less. Here are some of the scenic photo's we took.
Tammy is a little scared of heights but bravely made it up about half way before returning to solid ground.
