4.0L V8, Automatic
There were only 150 White Kalahari trucks built (and only 350 Kalahari ever built total) which makes this quite rare! Additionally it's a very clean, rust free Discovery that has been here in the South since new.
The Discovery Series II is quite a capable offroad vehicle, and the Kalahari package enhances those capabilities to the next level. It features a special high clearance front bumper, free flowing Saudi Spec grille, wraparound brushguard with offroad lights, taillamp guards, and of course the famous Safari Gard rock sliders. The interior is unique, with cloth/vinyl seats and super easy to clean door panels. To take it one step further, ours has some additional tasteful modifications.
The suspension has been upgraded with RTE 2" coil springs, OME shock absorbers, and a front sway bar disconnect system from Lucky8 LLC. The tires are brand new BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2, sized 265/75R16.
It has also a TF front differental guard, Rovertym heavy duty rear bumper, and a spare tire relocation bracket.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade of all is the transfer case. We have changed out the original non-locking case for a unit with a locking center differential. To keep this modification tidy as possible, we used a factory shifter linkage from an earlier model year Discovery.
The truck also boasts a cleanly installed CB radio, as well as a brand new JVC marine rated digital media stereo with full Bluetooth streaming audio and hands free calling capabilities.
Also cleanly mounted on the dash is a Scangauge II unit. This allows you to digitally monitor, in real time, parameters from your engine computer such as vehicle speed, coolant temperature, battery voltage, etc. as well as check/clear trouble codes if needed.
Another very nice touch are the Genuine Land Rover all-weather rubber floor mats front to back. Also comes with original plush carpet mats in excellent shape, as well as the full set of rare cargo area nets. On top it sports a set of Genuine Land Rover adjustable locking roof rack cross bars, which can be removed and kept in a bag inside the vehicle. The factory jack, tool kit, and original owner's manual are all also included.
Everything, even the cruise control works perfectly, which is almost unheard of for any Land Rover of this vintage. Just passed North Carolina inspection two weeks ago with flying colors. No fault codes in the engine, transmission, SRS, or ABS system. The transmission shifts perfectly, the brakes work great with no squealing, the steering tracks straight down the road at any speed. Drives great across town or across the country. Recently attended the Old North State Land Rover Society Fall 2015 rally in the Uwharrie National Forest, where we rode trails of all types, rocky, muddy, you name it. Truck handles it all in stride and afterwards brought us home at 80mph without missing a beat. The heat is hot, and the A/C is ice cold.
It does have a dent below the right taillamp, and one behind the left rear tire, and the passenger front seat bottom cover has been swapped out. A couple of the wheels have small scuffs but no serious damage. The spare tire is a Dunlop Mud Rover in matching size in excellent shape- it does not appear to have any wear at all.
We bought the truck Spring 2015 and over the summer months worked to restore it to the current excellent condition. We have invested approximately $5,000 in new parts alone, to include:
Headliner
Passenger seat trim cubby box (rare)
Correct Smokestone Grey cargo shade
Shift/brake boots
Sunroof motors
Rear wiper arm
Wiper cowl
Cabin filter
Throttle deicer
Oil/filter
RHF hub
LHR hub
Idler pulley
Serpentine belt
Air filter
Tires (and alignment)
Rear ladder
Floor mats
Sidemarker (both)
All light bulbs
Front bumper
Catalytic converters
All 4 O2 sensors
Power steering pump and lines
Transfer case mount
Both front window regulators
The lights on the brushguard are Genuine kit, but we upgraded to a brand new HD Hella wiring harness for them. The genuine accessory auxiliary lighting harness and relay box, including the coveted "2" fog lamp switch are all intact, still in place. The truck also comes with two spare sets of these lamps as they are getting hard to find. One set for parts, and another spare set that's ready to bolt on if needed. We also have the light grilles left and right for the wraparound brushguard, they also will be included with the vehicle.
At an agreeable sale price, the truck would also come with brand new full set of heavy duty stainless extended brake hoses, and brand new heavy duty steering bars with new greaseable tie rod ends. Not installed yet because truck is perfectly aligned and the current tie rods aren't even close to worn out.
Also have a brand new in the box, highest quality available vinyl hood blackout decal for it as the original has faded a bit.
Clean title in hand, ready to sell. Email with any questions you may have or to set up a time to come see the vehicle. We are not a dealership, but we specialize in Land Rover salvage and restoration.
Asking $12,500 OBO
