Keyless entry / remote start / entry lighting

Howdy... I just started poking around doing some research on a keyless entry band remote starter systems. I know that I probably...definitely need to add a remote starter to my wife's Lexus RX 350 before the van. I am seeing a huge price difference on systems and watched a video of adding it to the RX 350, which looks pretty complicated (for me). Do folks have suggestions on brands? Either for the Lexus or my 99 E3 50...the van does not have keyless entry But has power locks.

One other question and I suppose my owners manual might answer this but it's clear outside in my van, my entry lights do not come on when I open the door. I assume this would be controlled by the light switch and turning it but it does not seem to affect the entry lights. The overhead lights work when you push on them not sure if there's a setting that will make them turn on when the door opens?

Thanks, Coby

I have the same issue with the interior lights in my 2006 E350 and haven't been able to figure it out yet. But admittedly haven't dug into my factory service manual. If I leave my interior lights on (While camping or working in the driveway) they do however turn off at a certain amount of elapsed time. Haven't timed it but it is probably on the order of 20 minutes. If I open the door after they are off or lock or unlock the doors via the fob, the lights come back on, so it stands to reason that there is some control circuit above and beyond just the overhead switch. Does your behave the same way?

I have a Compustar remote start/keyless entry installed on my van. The warranty was automatically irrelevant if it wasn't installed by a certified installer, so I bought the system and had it installed by a local shop that had good reviews. It was also on sale at the time. It looked more complicated than I wanted to deal with. I don't like wiring things but it sure seems like I do a lot of it anyway.

You might check your van for existing keyless. My 2001 e350 ambulance didn't come with a keyfob but I bought one on amazon and was able to pair it with the van pretty easily. I was surprised it worked but it did.
