Kumho Road Venture AT51

I believe this tire is newer to market. It looks to be competing with the BFG KO2, General Grabber, Duratrac etc. Price is right. Anyone have experience with these tires?

It's nice to see that they go up to 35" diameter. But like the new BFG KO2, it has awfully shallow tread depth.

I.had a set of 31x10.50 E rated Kuhmos on my Cherokee. While they did well in snow and mud for what they were the ride quality and wear sucked. Hands down the roughest E rated tire I've ever had. Rode twice as rough as the BFGs and Goodyear tires I've run.

It was their AT tire. I think I have one mounted as a spare still. I'll check and get back with you.

I suppose it would be only fair to compare apples and apples.

Nope, different tire and I can't remember the particular model of Khumo I had. I'm reluctant to buy another set though. Id do a good bit of research before I.bought them again.

Thanks. I'm actually interested in the KL78. The D range LT285/70r17 weighs 51 pounds in is about $175.

I had a set of these put on yesterday on my 1999 Montero (31x10.5x15) and it just so happens to be raining in ATL so I can say for sure they have good grip in the rain and are not at all noisy on the highway. My offloading is limited to forest service/logging roads in the North GA mountains so I'm sure they will do fine there for my needs.

Here is the best part. They have a $120 rebate through 10/31 and my local Kauffman Tire runs a special every business day after a Falcon's football game, they give $40 off for every quarter the Falcon's score a touchdown...on Sunday they scored a TD in all 4 quarters so I got $160 off plus the $120 rebate from Kumho....I got four AT51s mounted and balanced for a total of $457 after all the discounts and rebates....you can't touch that! :)

Here is the rebate info...

And this place has great prices and will ship free to a local installer....I was going to go this route until I heard the Kauffman tire ad yesterday AM. With a local installer that only charges $70 this is only about $30 more than I paid....
