Labor Day on the Colorado

For Labor Day Andrew, Amanda and I spent a few hours on the Colorado River near Moab. We put in at Hittle Bottom and took out at Takeout Beach. The water was pretty low and slow...plus there was a little wind up the canyon, so Andrew and I had to take turns rowing in order to keep moving at a reasonable speed. In the end, it took us about 6 hours to make it to Takeout Beach. It was a good workout and we had fun along the way, too.

Finished inflating the raft by hand...

That looks funner than what I did on Labor Day, worked on the house.

Is that part of the river mostly class I-II ? I would like to run it with a sea kayak.

Pretty much. There is only one real rapid along this stretch, but because of the low water, it was pretty tame this time of year.

Cool, thanks. I think I will be heading over to lake Dillon next week and rent a double kayak so my wife can try it. Lake Dillon has a ton of all kinds of rentals to try out for a few hours or all day.
