100K in the U.S. only, I doubt the rest of the world gives a rip.... I'd give it a 6 out of 10 for comedy though:coffeedrink:

I just don't get the whole Defender fetish. In ROW a '97 D90 or D110 can be had for $15K....

If it was reliable and not overpriced I'd search for one.

Now thats funny! You have no idea how many gringos in central america have rolled up to me in my FZJ80 and want to trade their D110 for it.....

Defenders are sort of like wife 3.0 the gold digging version

Hence why I'm not looking for one :)

It basically just looks cool that's all
Last year in Death Valley park defender was performing extremely poor keeping everyone behind
U have to remember that Land Rover still has that image of expedition and travel and fun times
Most guys who buy those are for looks in USA at least, I used to be big time Land Rover fun and I still am a little bit but will I trade my cruiser for defender ? F no,
High prices of defenders In USA due to import law created this myth that it's holy grail

To be honest, that is how I feel when comparing Land Cruiser parts to Jeep parts...

I can get just about anything any time for a Jeep product, even 70+ year old models.
While Toyota products have decent support, the cost of said parts seems to be 2-3x as much.

Example. Go try and buy a new FJ40 hood....then go try and buy a new Jeep CJ/YJ/TJ hood....

you can even find jeep parts for the crazy models like the FC150/170 and the DJ's for prices that are reasonable....... oh well

...except you can find parts for just about EVERY other Jeep/Willys universal ever made, even stuff from the 1940s. You could even build most of the universals completely from aftermarket parts for a semi-reasonable cost.

FC or DJ production numbers where probably 1/1000th.

A land cruiser owner can still get brand new parts at the dealer for the 40 ;). Try that with a jeep. Aftermarket support doesn't prove a vehicles superiority.

Meh, cost vs benefit ratio for me. I don't see the point in paying $1400 for an OEM hood when a $400 aftermarket is available. I'm not a purist nor a restorationalist. I want to be able to find parts a napa or autozone in the middle of nowhere...not at a dealership.

Just looked around and I didn't see a hood for 1400 dollars. At least half that and even less was the price.

Check out the 'new oem price' for item 50 ( FJ40 hood )....it is up to $1637 now! No reproduction options....and the used options are very expensive also.

http://www.amazon.com/Omix-Ada-1200...&qid=1461164374&sr=8-16&keywords=jeep+cj+hood

Jeep CJ7 hood, new reproduction, $353 SHIPPED.

That is a good way to sum up the cost increase for parts you see for something like an FJ40 vs something like a Jeep CJ5/7/YJ/TJ.
They made FJ40's for like 40 years if you count Brazillian production.

I do wonder if there is more aftermarket parts production for FJ40s in other countries that we just don't see in the USA.
