Hi gang,

I'm curious if anyone with a '97-07 Ford E350 passenger van (4 dome lights down centerline of vehicle) has had great success with a certain brand of solid/reliable LED replacement bulbs, in order to brighten up the cabin a bit more.

I have not yet pulled the covers off the 4 dome lights(van is only 3 days old, it's still napping :) ), but I did find that per the Osram/Sylvania site, it should have these bulbs;

Dome Light Bulb (ie front)
6411

Map Light Bulb (ie front??)
578

Trunk or Cargo Area Light (ie rear, maybe also 2 in middle of van??)
211-2

Courtesy Light Bulb(I assume this is in a footwell or something, I'll have to check with VANdiana)

TIA for any help lighting up my life!

Jeremy,

I've always used the LEDs from SuperbrightLEDs.com with great success. I prefer the "warm" spectrum and they always seem to have them...

Awesome, thanks guys! Looks like the Sylvania site was correct on the bulb #s, but I'll pull them to verify anyways. Excited to get some LED bulbs in there to rid the van of the dingy yellowyness.
I'm debating between the Warm White and Natural White. What I don't know is how much less yellowy the Warm White are than the current halogen. That's what pushes me towards the Natural White more. Would love your thoughts/pictures.

Also, if you have any advice on which bulbs not to upgrade to LED's(ie they weren't good ROI), I'm open to that too!

Got mine from Superbrightleds.com as well no more worrying about leaving the doors open and running down the battery. I swapped out the rear fixture for a 2' strip work light which really lights up the cargo area.

Since I found out about leds I have swapped out my last 3 trucks, my wifes last 2 dd's and both of my parents cars. What I have found out is that the cheap ones sometimes have slightly different color temps when ordered in bulk "a small price to pay when you get 20 leds for $15 +free shipping" on a side note ive never had any problems with the cheap led bulbs from ebay. My advice is to find a usa seller with free shipping, they ship fast through usps and usually get to your house in 3-4 days.

Measure your existing halogen bulbs from your dome lights by millimeters and order the leds that way instead of the bulb number. Ive had to several times bend the tabs in the bulb housing to fit the led because they were either to big or to small.

Aslo as far as color temp when ordering the cheapies from ebay most of them are 6000k unless specified as amber, red, blue etc...

I also run the cheap LED bulbs from Ebay in Boomer with good success so far. I don't have a ton of time on them so far, but they have been reliable and output a decent amount of light. They DON'T put out as much light as their incandescent equivalents in my opinion, but still good enough for general interior illumination. The big reason I swapped over was for current draw from the house battery banks. I have 5 light fixtures in Boomer. When they were all lit with incandescents I could expect 5A of current draw from the batteries. With LED's I'm under 1 amp.

Thanks all. I'll be ordering some from superbrightleds.com. Great informative site, too many choices honestly.

I did pull the interior dome light covers off and confirmed my '07 has;

Dome Light Bulb (ie front)
6411 x1

Map Light Bulb (ie 2nd and 3rd row)
578 x3 per row, so 6 total

Trunk or Cargo Area Light (ie rear)--looks very similar to the 578 bulb, but the 211-2 appears to be slightly higher wattage
211-2 x1

As superbrightleds says, the 578 and 211-2 supercede to the same LED bulb.

I'm also going to upgrade these;
Center High Mount Stop Light Bulb
912

License Light Bulb
168

Has anyone been running an LED front turn signal bulb????

TIA!

Sweet man, superbrightleds is an awesome store.

Ive not run turn signal leds and for the reason that you have to get a new flasher relay or use inline resistors so they dont hyper flash.

But the high stop tail light and license plate bulbs I have used. You should look into your reverse lights as well.

superbrightled has some information on the flashers needing to be swapped. An I believe that they sell the flashers, just be sure to pull yours to look at prior to make sure you get the correct one.
LEDs are in the future for Blunderbuss and I would love to upgrade to LED brake/turn signals as well as the interior.

Thanks gents. I'll forgo front turn signal bulbs for now. VANdiana has custom CREE LED reverse housings already so I'm good there.

I'll look into reverse light bulbs too.
