Leer 122 truck cap

Just picked up an uninsulated Leer 122 for my duramax and would like some opinions about camping in it. I’m retiring my 80 for camping duties however have grown accustom to sleeping inside of it.
Since this leer is just a bare fiber glass shell, I have been reading that moisture drips down during cold weather camping. I only want to stop the dripping over my head as I will have the truck bed area heated. Would just some cheap home depot carpet work, along with some proper 3M glue? Thanks!

which glue would you recommend. I like doing stuff once. The rubber backing would be good for adhesion on the marine carpet to the bare glass? i see..cool websit I’ll be reading about this now!

not passing the buck, but i am by no means an expert, i would request a recommendation x the dealer or manufacturer. some would offer "yeah, i saved 50 cents buying brand xyz", but to me, even if there is a higher priced proprietary suggestion, you have 'fall-back' if there is a failure. so the $$$ insures value.

and to regurgitate an insurance adjuster's comment, "95% of problems are application, and not product liability". so maybe i'm a sucker, but i like to follow manufacturer recommendations.

don your respirator, grab some gloves, and wipe down the inside of that shell with some acetone or other nasty chemical, before doing anything to it. take pictures for your build file and for the documentation in the event of, well, "anything".

I have a 122 with the carpet installed by Leer. SP13 gives generally good advice but based on my experience, don’t expect much from the factory or dealer. I had them delete the rear “opera” windows (or whatever they're called) and the carpet in that location, both sides, has always sagged away from the shell. Find a recommendation for a good adhesive from a marine supply and then go for it. A clean surface to begin with is a must, of course.

I've enjoyed camping under this topper. Previously I had a cab high shell on the Dodge; it’s nice to be able to sit up on my cot in the 122 and not bump my head. The Chevy is a longbed so the extra bed space has been great, especially since I still need to use the truck as a truck. Keep us updated on your build. ?
