just made and installed my limb risers for my 98 D1 yessterday. today I took a 150 mile trip and no difference in sound levels. Although I do have a roof top rack with tent and cans on it already making enought noise!!

do limb risers make a lot of noise in the road?

Mine make no noise that I could detect

One thing people tend to forget when making their own limb risers is the initial force of contact. It can be hard on the connecting points over time. The pros use a spring to absorb the shock.

Limb raiser spring on a Camel Trophy D110. I wasn't intentionally photographing the spring

Camel Trophy limb risers were made from stainless steel line.

Here's mine

I used a stainless steel spring, turnbuckle and rigging line from West Marine.

When I'm camped, I often use the limb raiser lines as short clothes lines.

Noise from limb risers!

You must have real quiet engines, and real good sound proofng! Are you sure we are talking about Land-Rovers?..

These were my Limb Risers,, Note no springs. And on top of the TD5 diesel couldn't be heard. Maybe all that turbo zoom and tyre noise did the trick:)

Ummmm, this newbie thought that was their only purpose. Guess I should do more reading. Thanks for the thread.

No noise from mine either. I'm planning on taking mine off and rebuilding them in the spring with some heavier cable. My cable and the fasteners I used were a bit light duty for the working they got this summer. The tensioners bent from the force. I'm digging the spring idea and might incorporate that. I didn't use the fancy coated cable, but what I did with mine is treat it with black rustoleum paint which seemed to work well.
