LN2 Snorkel

Has anyone had any luck finding, building or retrofitting a decent snorkel for the engine induction and cabin intake?

I don't believe they are available anymore, but I don't think it would be all that difficult to custom mold one out of fiberglass. A bit of foam to carve for the bottom, some off the shelf fiberglass tube and a standard aftermarket top. Heck, after the first one is made a mold could be taken and fancy carbon ones could be done. The hardest part is working out the attachment to the existing air intake and how it works with opening the hood flap. Now having said that, the intake is about 5' off the ground, so water intake is not likely (well hopefully for us). So the biggest benefit would be for dust, and we have done a bunch of dusty roads and so far the air filter has been ok.

Pairospam made one i believe on the has a build thread here on EP

Pairoa has an original. He was lucky enough to discover it on a Cab shell in a scrap yard in Chile.

They are indeed very rare . I have been looking for 10 years.

I did see a guy , maybe on here , not so long ago that had adapted one from another truck and it fed backwards inside the engine bay and then vertically behind the cab. Nothing visible from the front

I prefer the original but don't hold out much hope .

I had planned to keep ours which mounts to the left corner of the truck... I also planned to find one for the right (the rare ones as pictured on the first blue truck), but then bought another truck with a later front grille and side flares which looks a lot better, so I've decided not to use the snorkel. The air intake on ours sits behind the front grille on the left, and the donor truck came with a steel addition that puts the intake almost at the top of the grille. This area is clean and 2m above the ground. I'm never going to do deep wading, so should'nt need it. Also, if you follow someone close on a dirt road, the dust plume is a lot higher than any snorkel. The key is not to follow close when on dirt. Having no snorkel also allows me to neatly run two brush bars down to the bumper area from the roof rack. :)

I suppose there are many reasons for wanting one vs the opposite. I really think it will help with dust in general but I suppose there is "the look" to consider too :)

On the positive side I have a line on some original Snorkels. If anyone is interested in one let me know.

When you get any info please let me know, mostly out of curiosity because I think am original will not work with our roof rack. But who knows.

Does anyone actually know if there were any original snorkels for the LK1 type cab?

It seems so far all examples are of the NG/SK type cabs..

The only ones I have seen are in pictures and they seemed to be custom. I know on the LN2 forum there is a thread about snorkels. They were trying to get a group buy from a Chinese company, I think things fizzled.
