Long gun storage...

Can't help you with any experience with this device. Generally, I think these type of locks provide good protection against kids or other unauthorized users getting access to your gun, and reasonable protection against theft. In both cases the level of protection can be enhanced by concealing the weapon out of view, but perhaps at the expense of some additional time to access in an emergency.

I note that there are other similar products on the market, for example: ShotLock

IMHO a real gun safe is better, but I understand the cost can be difficult to justify for a small number of long guns, and space considerations can be a factor as well.

Actually, I have a handgun safe for my bedside XD9, and a Winchester 12-14 gun fullsize safe. (So definitely on the same page as you.) This was just a thought for the carbine or rifle that I could keep on hand for stray dogs/zombies/etc. :)

Thanks for that link. I'll check it out!

cool, that shotlock looks like a good product. Their website says that they're looking at releasing a m4/ar15 variant this year, too.

I agree, as a way to secure a gun but still provide quick access, I think these types of devices are ideal.
