new member to my 4x4 family 1969 land cruiser , emigrated from japan when she was about 2 months old, then raised in Southern calif, 100% all original including the paint , even the original radio works . correct black and yellow license plates are on the way to give that authentic 69 looks

i plan to do nothing to her, she is perfect the way it is, except i need to practice my column shifting skills haha. its so strange driving 130 inch wide hummer then driving this tini cruiser lol

Your Hummer is 11' wide? Good god! I thought highway lanes were only 10'! Must be tough to drive...

Nice find, congratulations! That's exceptionally clean for an original-paint Cruiser that old.

with side mirrors its very close to 130 inches . however its 2 inches lower than my classic range rover, and has 9 more inches ground clearance , now try to roll over that haha

at the beginning it is very hard to keep it inside the line, but after few days of driving u get used to it, and now after 7 years and 4 of those bad boys, i relay do feel unsafe and so uncomfortable inside regular cars .

but the funny thing is if u drive in LA size does mater . no one cuts in front of u, no one honks behind u, no one does dumb moves in front of u . haha

i love the cruiser because of its super simple military design , and when summer comes she will be top less :)

my question is can i make the new babe 4 speed ans still keep it column shifter? i don't wanna modify anything but it will be nice to have 4 speeds

do i have to use 91 octane gas? or 87 is fine?

87 is fine; the F motor is only 7:1 compression. The exception may be if there is significant carbon build-up in the combustion chamber, which can act like a glow plug and cause pre-ignition. So if you experience pinging then try a higher octane as a temporary fix.

I think anything over 102" requires a "wide load" placard here... Although my neighbor has an H1 without the wide load signage.

I try never to drive south of Ventura on the coast, and then from San Clemente south it becomes more human again. I used to hang out in Smell Segundo and San Pedro, but it's been a lot of years...

I think if you want to leave it a column shifter, you are going to be stuck with three gears. You could maybe get an overdrive, but that would mean non stock looking stuff as well.

Width is listed as 86.5". The wheelbase is 130.

Congrats on a beautiful FJ! There aren't may left here in the North East, definitely not in that condition.
